All right, so I’ve abandoned my blog and left all of you in the dark two-months now. The worst part is that so much has happened in my fucking life; I don’t even know where to begin. I suppose that Sophomore year of college really is the second most interesting one, at least until the year you’re allowed to drink. But I won’t waste anymore. Sit back, relax, and grab a glass of wine. You’re in for a long ride.
I’ll start with the most boring thing: classes. I ended up dropping that one Psychology class. Now look, I will always encourage people to give it their best shot. Unless that best shot gives them a 44% on their midterm. Then, I would say to drop that shit as soon as possible. I am not taking an elective History class (which also just so happens to be online) so my classes haven’t been that big of a pain in the ass.
As for Alyssa, Molly, and Carter – everything is well. Alyssa spends nearly all of her time studying (average Engineering major) and at least has a fit about how much she hates it at least once a week. However, the bitch refuses to change it because “it will be worth it when she’s a millionaire”. Though, she does find time occasionally to come and party with ZSU’s Filipino club with me. Then Molly and Carter are still together and haven’t killed each other yet, so I think that’s a good sign that they’re pretty happy! Molly’s working to try and land herself an internship to gain experience. She also has the ambition to try and graduate early in 2026. As for Carter, he seems to be doing fine for his first year of Engineering. He’s got a group of good friends with good grades. To be honest, it’s pretty solid to have both during your first year of college.
Second, I’ll recap you on ZSU’s Filipino club and how I’m officially known in the club as “drunk couch girl”. First, I was reunited with my Ate (“big sister” in Tagalog), Kalista Baccay. She’s a Junior with a bubbly personality yet is extremely blunt and real. Still, she’s cool as fuck. Alyssa, Myla (new friend), and I are her Adings (“little siblings”). Her boyfriend, Sean Manalo, lives in a townhome with one of my other very good friends, Jared Del Castro. Jared and I met Freshman year in an Asian studies class and learned we both knew Kalista. But he and Sean are also best friends and live with two other boys, Ryan and John. John is quiet but friendly. Then Ryan is really extroverted and a little douchey, your average “ABB” (Asian Baby Boy). But anyhow, Kalista and I meet every Monday for lunch to recap on any new drama and our weekends. You’d be surprised how much drama is in the Filipino club. It’s a lot. But anyhow, I’ll get to the important stuff.
Kalista is always the designated driver anytime there’s a party for the Filipino club. Well, at one of these parties, we decided to go to Sean’s apartment to “pregame the pregame”. Well, your girl had too many “Truly Unrulys” and cocktails. I was stumbling out of the house before we even made it to the pregame at Nicolas’ apartment. His apartment overlooks downtown ZSU and all the action that takes place on the weekends. Unfortunately, the action was me. Kalista, Alyssa, and I walked into the pregame where at least twenty people were already drinking and socializing. My old thought was getting to a couch to take a power snooze. And that’s exactly what I did. I made my way to Nicolas’ couch and shut my eyes. Kalista kept giving me shots of “Pink Whitney” is an attempt to keep me awake while Alyssa sat there embarrassed. Suddenly, a group of Freshmen boys kept reappearing to check on me and make sure I was ok. When I woke up a little, I started telling all of my friends there that I loved them and kissed their hands. By the time we made it to “the game” in Dan’s basement, I was asleep against the wall. So, there you have it. At every party since, everyone expects me to be drunk and to crash on a couch at some point. Some people would say I’ve developed an alcohol problem; I say I’m dealing with the bullshit of life in most adultlike fashion. I’m such a great example for all college kids, especially the Freshmen!
I still work at “The Proper Pepperoni” on ZSU’s campus. I’ve become closer with a few of girls that work there. Nothing too much to update on that. Just a lot of pizza I’m bringing home and not nearly as much drama as the movie theater job back in my hometown.
I wish that I could say that this semester has been nothing but adventurous and fun. But that would be a complete lie. The bad news is that Kaylee Brown and I are not as close anymore. I formed a friendship with Maria Perez, and that rubbed Kaylee the wrong way. We had a small fight about it, yet we managed to work through it. As of lately, though, I think Kaylee and Maria are closer than ever now than either of them being closer with me. I see them about once a week now, but that’s because of circumstances I’ll explain later. Kaylee and I have plans to travel to my hometown for a Christmas festival this weekend, as Maria is going back to Arizona for Thanksgiving Break. I will also mention that Kaylee and her boyfriend, Derek, are still doing well. He even came to ZSU two-months-ago to visit before he would be stationed in a different country. All of us seemed to like Derek; we have hopes of him visiting again when he comes home.
As for Rachel Boone, she and I are still pretty good friends. She became friends with Molly since we’re all in the same Sociology class, so now we all just suffer together. Rachel and her boyfriend, Devin Stallard, are still going strong with a few fights here and there. Lastly, as an honorable mention, Aiden Thatcher (Juan’s best friend and Maria’s “whatever”) seems to be doing well. Kaylee Juan, and Maria host “game nights” at their house about once a month. Maria and Aiden have shared a makeout and a cuddle session at these “game nights”, but he is too scared of a relationship. Maria has completely given up on him, but every time she pulls away, Aiden does just enough to reel her back in. Don’t even ask me for predictions on what will happen there, because I don’t even know.
Now, of course, I can’t leave out one of the most important key figures of my blog: Juan Rivera. In case you’ve forgotten, Juan lives with Kaylee and Maria in a townhome. On the “game nights” where Maria and Aiden shared their moments, Juan and I shared softer moments. Like holding hands, hugging, putting my head on his shoulder, or falling asleep on his chest. I think deep down, it somewhat meant something to me. However, it meant nothing to him. Juan and I genuinely tried to be friends for a while. He and Maria even came to my hometown to hangout with me for a day during Fall Break. But this all changed after a Halloween party they hosted at their house. A random girl showed up, Juan hit on her, and they slept together that night. Me, who had had way too much alcohol and too many hits of a weed pen, had gone to throw up all of it after seeing them together.
Long story short, this girl and Juan are officially dating. He banned me from their house, unfollowed me on everything, and cut me out of his life completely. The only thing I know about this girl is that she also flies planes (just like three of them), plays volleyball, and her name is Daisy McJones. I’m upset I’ve been kicked out of my own friend group, but I understand why. I think the only that bugs me, and perhaps will always bug me, is how Juan could commit to a girl that slept with him after an hour of knowing him; but he couldn’t commit to me. The problem was me. He just didn’t want to be with me. And I don’t know why, and maybe that’s ok. Because I shouldn’t have to constantly question myself. More importantly, I shouldn’t be with someone who questions if they want to be with me. We should both just know. That’s it.
To recap, that’s all of the important information of AC Lane’s life right now. I will attempt to write more in the future. In the meantime, enjoy some honorable mention moments of my school year that were not mentioned:
- I got very drunk at one Filipino party and took .5 photos of everyone, then I went home and crashed as I was eating a pack of Oreo’s
- I got super drunk at the second “game night” at Kaylee, Juan, and Maria’s. Then I cried that I was unloveable for an hour as Kaylee, Derek, and our friend Diana Torres took care of me
- That same game night, Juan and I made comments about reconnecting. But as we sobered up the next day, everything went back to normal
- I made out with Maria and our mutual friend, Ariana Lopez, when we got extremely drunk. Not our proudest moment, especially when I cope with it by joking and Maria would rather just never bring it up
- Juan, Maria, and I got high and drunk and had a dance party while having a photoshoot with each other. Juan and I may not speak anymore, but that night was so fun.
- I went to the pumpkin patch with Kaylee, Juan, Maria, Rachel, Devin, Ariana, and Ariana’s boyfriend Dante Esposito. We went through a maze and grabbed pumpkins. Gave Juan $20 for taking a bite of a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and learned he sucks at cardio, another fun day. Devin’s also a great liar and managed to get out of work at “The Proper Pepperoni” with ease (he doesn’t work there anymore)
- I traveled 3-hours to XMU’s campus (ZSU’s rival school, and where my guy best friend, Trent Peters, lives) to party. We smoked a lot of cigarettes and drank a lot with his friends. Until we had to talk to cops at this party in the middle of nowhere. I almost shit myself. Definitely one of the most fun nights of my life.
Until next time, my fellow college students. Just stay out of trouble, and I will see you next Thursday. And if you find yourself in a toxic situation, I hope you have the strength to say “fuck you”, light a cigarette, and walk away.
