Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Alright, so I might be the worst writer on the planet. But hey, you can never say I’m not authentic. My time away from this blog has allowed me to gather up all the intimate details about my life and new events that had just occurred. I’m not much of a writer, unless you consider my endless ranting about dating and sex “deep and real”. But gossiping? I can do that perfectly.

First of all, I just finished my sophomore year at ZSU. And I am proud to say that I did make the Dean’s List for the semester. Which isn’t saying much for my 3.0 GPA. God forbid a girl takes pride in the little things. I should also mention that this semester I became a part-time student. I was failing two classes and refused to risk going on academic probation. However, do not worry. I will be back to being full-time next semester. I must mention, as well, that I still work at “The Proper Pepperoni” on ZSU’s campus. Though I don’t enjoy it very much; but money is money.

Then we have my roommates: Molly Smith and Alyssa Phan. Molly ended up landing that internship and is living on ZSU’s campus for the Summer. She’s not thrilled about staying up there, but she is thrilled about this internship. She and Carter Bui are still together to this day and in July, they will be celebrating their one-year. Carter will actually be moving into the same apartment complex as us next year with some of his boys, so it will be cool to have him nearby. As I know they will be reading this, and I love to be a petty bitch: you guys are still welcome because I introduced y’all. Then Alyssa is back in my hometown and works at a martial arts place, a town over. She is changing her Engineering type next semester as she has finally had enough of the constant crashing out. Besides that, nothing is new with them, and the friendships are still as strong as ever.

My best friends in my hometown (Trent Peters and Brianna Martinez) are back with me and are also working at the movie theater. We have a groupchat with our other good friend and coworker, Olga Bennet. The four of us recently attended an NBA game with a nice meal in the downtown area of our city. It was fun and I can expect us to keep a tight friendship over the Summer. We still gossip like crazy and bully each other, a very healthy group if you ask me (we’re all a little insane, but it’s fine hehe). Trent is still single, and Olga got out of a long-term relationship back in September. Brianna is still with Jacob a year later, and there’s no more I need to add to that.

Kaylee Brown, Maria Perez, and I are still close friends. In fact, I think being apart has made us all miss each other more. We’re all in different parts of the country, and we will not be seeing each other again until July. Until then, we send each other TikToks and constantly FaceTime. A couple of months ago, Kaylee and Derek broke up. It was sad, as one can assume, but Kaylee is dealing with it well. She’s spending her Summer with family and making the best of their time together. As for Maria, she actually got a boyfriend a month ago by the name of Logan Hargrave. Logan is on the quieter side but is a nice guy who respects her immensely. And I’m very happy for her.

Juan Rivera, the infamous man I crashed out over last Summer (and I’m definitely sure you all remember that), is still with Daisy McJones. And to everyone’s surprise, Daisy and I have actually formed a small friendship. She’s a sweet girl with a lot of intriguing interests, and I like hearing about those and her stories. And she likes to hear about all my bullshit too, which I can appreciate. Even Juan and I aren’t on bad terms anymore. Don’t get it twisted, though; Juan and I are not friends by any means. However, he and I have found a way to be friendly in front of others and secretly dislike each other deep down. For me, that’s a win.

Now, you might ask, “AC Lane, will you be back on Hinge this Summer? Will you be going crazy again?” And I am sorry to disappoint you, because the answer is no. AC Lane has found herself in her first committed relationship with none other than Aiden Thatcher. Now again, you might ask me, “But isn’t that Juan Rivera’s best friend? And isn’t that the guy Maria had a weird thing with?” The answers to those are also yes and yes. It started out as running into each other at the library in January, then him getting drunk and asking me out in February (I rejected him), and then hangouts at the gym. I started to like him back, and we confessed that we liked each other. Then in April, we made it official after I asked him (gotta be a woman in men’s fields in 2025). Maria wasn’t thrilled at first, but soon said she approved and was happy for me. So, things became easier from then on out. Maria has even suggested double dates with us, her, and Logan. Nothing seems to have changed in her and I’s dynamic, and that’s what really mattered to me. So now, Aiden is back home in New York until he returns for an internship in a month.

And that is all for me currently! I will work at the movie theater and accumulate more stories for my fellow readers. Stay tuned for my next post next Thursday!
